What is a "Cooperative" Preschool?
In 1915, faculty wives at the University of Chicago started the first parent participation preschool. Over 9 decades later, the parent participation movement continues to flourish.
This wonderful program provides parents with the opportunity to be actively involved in their child’s first educational experience. By working together, we create a loving atmosphere where children and parents grow, develop and learn. Many studies have shown that this type of program is most beneficial to the children, parents, as well as the community.
Interacting with a community of other parents who share your commitment to childhood and receiving modeling by the teacher as you help, gives you opportunities to learn alongside your child. Most importantly, choosing a cooperative preschool gives you extra time to bond with your child and create memories together. Your child will always know that education is important in your family because you live it everyday.
What to expect
Because we believe that parents play an important role in development we encourage all parents to share in their childs education by working in the class and volunteering their time. In addition parents will be asked to attend and participate in the following:
Class schedules & Tuition
We offer two types of classes: 3 year olds and 4 year olds
Our three-year-old class schedule is every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00am. The monthly tuition for the 2015-'16 school year is $155.00 per month.
We offer 2 different class schedules for our 4-year-old students:
Tuition for either of the 4-year-old classes for the 2015-'16 school year is $185.00 per month.
We offer lower tuition costs because we recognize the work and commitment parents provide while attending RSG preschool. We are proud to offer something that is both financially favorable and developmentally beneficial for both preschoolers and their families!
How does RSG continue to develop?
Ready, Set, Grow! Preschool is honored to be the first parent participation preschool in Murrieta. We are excited to be able to provide this terrific experience to families, neighbors, and our community. As the movement continues to grow, so does the need for the schools to have a support system and to have communication with each other. Regional Councils have been formed to meet such needs. The California Council of Parent Participation Nursery Schools (CCPPNS) is operating in California. Forty-eight years old and 10,000 members strong, it provides many services to its members. These include seminars, education, support, and advice. Ready, Set, Grow! Preschool is proud and privileged to be a member of this esteemed organization.
Is working in the class mandatory?
Yes, being a part of Ready, Set, Grow! Preschool means that you have the desire and ability to work in class 3 or more times a month. As a working parent you will be assisting our teachers as an aid. This will give you the unique opportunity to be directly involved in your child's preschool education!
In addition to tuition each family has a mandatory $250 fundraising quota. Many non-profit schools such as RSG are in need of funding for various circumstances such as special projects and classroom upgrades. Many schools don't have a specific budget set aside for these events, in which case the families are asked to periodically pay additional fees in order for their child to participate. However here at RSG we avoid asking our families for additional funds, therefore as an alternative we hold fundraising events. We find that fundraising keeps parent costs low, which allows all RSG families the ability to participate in our many school events. We pride ourselves in making your child’s preschool years fun, enriching and educational as well as keeping parent contributions affordable and low cost.
Does RSG provide snacks?
All snacks will be provided by the parent. Prior to eating snack our teachers lead the children in a snack time song and a short prayer. Each child will have their snack checked at this time to make sure it's healthy and follows the RSG snack policy.
